County riders shine in Glory Hole races

ANGELS CAMP — Todd Bounds of Soulsbyville won the beginner junior division of the sixth annual Glory Hole Mountain Bike Races yesterday on the shores of New Melones Reservoir outside Angels Camp.

Bounds beat out Logan Loader of Pacific Grove, Ben Weerts of Orinda, Ray Williams of Lincoln, Jimmy Winne of Roseville, and Shelby Isaman of Sonora.

Hosea Shepherd of Mi-Wuk Village was second and Lloyd Longeway of Sonora fifth in the beginner senior 19-25 division, won by Louis Bohan of South Lake Tahoe.

Calaveras County riders took two of the top three places in the beginner veteran division. Paul Borean of Hathaway Pines won the 15-rider race and Scott Madden of Arnold finished third. Also in the mix was Angels Camp's Rod Olson, who was 12th.

Borean beat out Scott Starling of Los Gatos. Roundup out the top five were Mark Gardner of Lathrop and Lee Kendall of Folsom.

In the bigger senior 19-25 race, Rym Risetti of Murphys finished fourth. Louis Bohan of South Lake Tahoe was the winner.

George Ayoob of Petaluma won the beginner senior 26-34 race.
