By AMY LINDBLOM A Sonora man is uninjured after being held up at gunpoint in his Callahan Lane home and robbed of $2,700 yesterday afternoon. The robber is still at large. David Anthony Barton, 56, called 911 about 3 p.m. yesterday to say a man who appeared to be in his 20s had entered Barton's home while Barton was lying on his bed. A sheriff's report said the man had a handgun with a short barrel and told Barton "don't move." He took Barton's wallet and checkbook. Barton runs his business Penguin Tree Service out of his home. The wallet had $2,700 in it. The man ran out the front door and has not been seen since. Deputies questioned a neighbor and employees at nearby Buck's Body Shop on the 12700 block of Mono Way who might have seen the man fleeing the Callahan Lane area. An employee described a van parked there for a while and gave a license plate number. Deputies questioned the van's owner, but said he was not a suspect. About 30 minutes after Barton called 911, deputies took him to the railroad tracks near Sanguinetti Loop Drive, and asked him to look at a man they believed matched the robber's description. However, the man deputies detained was not the robber, the report said. The suspect is described as being white, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with thin, collar-length brown hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a checkered shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 533-5815 or the Crime Hotline at 984-1911.
