Tania Anne Herfurth

Tania Anne Herfurth passed away on July 21, at 48. 

Tania was born in San Jose and graduated from Santa Clara High and Santa Clara University. In 1991, Tania and her husband moved from the Bay Area to Tuolumne County where she touched the lives of many with her big heart, great sense of humor and infectious smile. 

She was a loving wife and very dedicated mother. Her passions were family travel, animals — especially cats, sports, outdoor activities and graphic design. She was the owner of Small White Cat Design and vice president of A Cure in Sight Foundation. 

She is survived by her husband and companion of 27 years, Charles (Chuck) Herfurth; daughter Alexis Herfurth; and mother Marlene Yaich; along with a large extended family.

A very casual celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at The Wilson Ranch, 18761 Railbed Road, Jamestown, Calif.

Kennith ‘Casey’ Dale Carter Sr.

Jan. 1, 1931 — June 22, 2014

Kennith “Casey” Dale Carter Sr., 83, of Sonora, Calif., passed away on June 22 with his family at his side. 

He was born to Lloyd F. Carter and Minnie O. Carter of Delhi, Calif. Casey went through school in Tuolumne County. He then married Marjorie Brown of Fresno, Calif., in 1949. They had three children, Kennith Jr., Karen and Kevin. Casey served during the Korean War in Air Rescue in the U.S. Air Force.

He had many careers starting as an automotive painter. He also painted aircraft for Lockheed. He continued to paint automobiles throughout his entire life while having various businesses, guarding a business in Fresno, teaching auto body and paint at Fresno City College for a stint, owning a trucking company in the Bay Area from about 1970 until he retired in 1995; and, then back to painting cars until he passed. While in retirement he worked as a bartender during the season at Kennedy Meadows. He made many friends and acquaintances and was well liked by many people that either worked or visited him at Kennedy Meadows.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Sr. and Minnie Carter; his brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd Jr. and Katey Carter; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Rufus Tweedy, of Sonora, and Rick Carter, of Sonora.

He is survived by his three children, Ken Jr. and his wife Claudia, of Clovis, Calif.; his daughter, Karen and her husband Larry, of Modesto, Calif.; his son, Kevin, of Ripon, Calif.; his brother George Carter, of Sonora, Calif.; and former wife, Marjorie Brown, of Fresno, Calif.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 at Sierra Bible Church (potluck, bring your favorite dish), located at 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora.
