A Twain Harte woman has been arrested in connection with the killing of Ricky Roberts, who was gunned down in February in his Mono Way auto shop.

Cheryl Lynn Lucero, 45, of the 19800 block of August Court, is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Tuolumne County Superior Court. What she will be charged with had not been determined as of this morning, said District Attorney Mike Knowles.

Since Wednesday night, Lucero has been held in the Tuolumne County Jail on a single homicide charge, according to jail records. Her bail was set at $1 million.

Sheriff’s logs show Lucero was arrested by Sonora police officers Wednesday night. She was booked into the jail at 11:40 p.m.

It’s unclear if there will be any other arrests made in the case. Investigators continue to interview people.

The Sonora Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Justice.

The other agencies have deferred all comments to the Sonora Police Department. Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson this morning released a few details about the case.

He said Lucero, during an interview with investigators Wednesday, admitted to her involvement in the Roberts homicide.

Roberts was shot to death on the morning of Feb. 16 in his auto shop near his residence on Mono Way.

He was found lying on the ground by a person he was scheduled to meet about renting space in the building, police said early in the investigation.

Roberts was fairly well known in the community, both as a Police Department volunteer and as a regular competitor in area demolition derby competitions.
