Roberta ‘Bobbie’
Lee Holloway

Sept. 18, 1942 — May 7, 2014

Roberta “Bobbie” Lee Holloway, longtime resident and member of turn of the century (1896) Sonora family, passed away at her home after a long battle with respiratory disease. She passed peacefully in the early morning at the age of 71.

Bobbie was born in Palo Alto to Tommie Lee and Flora Lee Holloway. She attended elementary school in Long Beach and was a graduate of Sonora High School, class of 1962. She attended Long Beach City College and computer training in San Francisco, where she started her working career.

Bobbie’s work career was eclectic; whatever was interesting to her at that particular time of her life! Her work varied from Sonora Elementary School administrative assistant to running Substance Abuse Programs for both private and state agencies. She enjoyed people, loved to travel and was running tours to Egypt and South Africa with business partner Jane Bell of San Francisco when her health forced her retirement. She was a longtime friend of Bill W., lover of animals, the Sierras and anything involving bikes or canoes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tommie Lee Holloway, of Glendale, Calif.

She is survived by daughter Meredith Webb, of San Francisco; brother William Holloway and his wife, Jan, of Sonora; nephew Tom Holloway and his wife Beth, of Sonora; and great nieces Megan Holloway, of Orange, Calif., and Emma Holloway, of Sonora; cousin Howard Phelps, of Seattle, Wash.; close friends Gary and Jane Bell, of San Francisco; and beloved rescue-cat “Shady.”

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in mid-June by her family and close friends.

Donations can be made to Hospice of the Sierra or Sonora Cat Rescue in lieu of flowers.

A kind thought is all that is needed.

Lynnda Lee Lowry

July 12, 1953 — May 23, 2014

Lynnda Lee Lowry lost her 10-year battle with leukemia and joined our Father in Heaven on Friday, May 23, 2014. She was 60 years old. She was born Lynnda Lee Zarp on July 12, 1953 in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., to Gladys Zarp and Robert “Bob” Zarp. She lived in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties since 1980.

Lynnda most enjoyed spending time outside kayaking and hiking in the woods. She took great pride in her garden and could grow anything. She also was very proud of her accomplishments as a synchronized swimmer, in which she won many awards.

She was very kindhearted and would help anyone in need, even if it meant sacrificing her own needs. She was always ready for an adventure and loved to create priceless memories. She showed her amazing strength through many life challenges while raising three very beautiful girls. She always pushed things to the limit and always lived life to the fullest. She will be sorely missed by all of those who were close to her. We will miss her laugh, her stories and most of all her sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, sister and son. She is survived by her two sisters, Barbara Hughes, of Angels Camp, Calif., and Darlene Elliott, of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; brother, Joseph Zarp, of Ione, Calif.; three daughters, Aimeé Casamatt, of Madison, Ala., Sharlene Lowry of Orlando, Fla., and Lora Lowry, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; and her beloved kitty Sophia.

Family and friends are invited to her celebration of life at 11 a.m. June 4, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 19481 Hillsdale Drive, Sonora, CA 95370. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, one of her favorite places.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lynnda’s name to the High Sierra Club or the Sonora Cat Rescue.

Mom — always and forever, our hearts will always touch; always and forever, your baby girls love you so much.
