Poverty stems from life choices

To the Editor:

When anyone talks about income inequality, they reveal the Marxist indoctrination embedded within.

Obama rails against the privileged, but expects privilege. He detests wealth, yet swims with the wealthy. He condemns those in power, but demands control.

In all this, he has followers. It started with the Choom Gang who bought his pot. But now he is selling ‘Hopium’, and it is flying off the shelves. Millions see his elixir as the answer to all their dreams. It does not matter to them what he does, only what he says, and lies are as good as the truth — often better. They love him equally for delivering the “goodies” or for vandalizing those that have them. In this, and only this, can he be trusted.

Problems of the poor stem from pernicious consequences of their own life choices: partying instead of putting off short term gratification long enough to prepare themselves for a meaningful career; dropping out of high school;  sexual promiscuity that results in a house full of kids; misusing credit cards and becoming indentured servants to loan shark rates; abusing drugs, alcohol, and food  — along with the misplaced belief that because they live in America they deserve equal “results” and increasingly they are demanding it at the polls.

America offers income mobility — a guaranteed opportunity, not a guaranteed outcome. Our system is as fair as human beings can make it.

Obama — came out of nowhere with no means of his own, becomes a millionaire and twice elected President of the United States, and then lectures us about the lack of opportunity in this country?

Obama does not believe in the American free enterprise system. He does not believe in the American dream.
