A slight chance — 20 percent or less — of rain is forecast for Monday night and Tuesday in the Tuolumne County foothills, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of Calaveras County is slated to see less precipitation.

Higher elevations in both counties will see more precipitation, with slight chances of rain or snow showers Monday through Tuesday. Snow levels could drop to 6,000 feet on Tuesday. Pinecrest and higher elevations would see snow.

No significant levels of precipitation are expected — likely a few hundredths of an inch — according to Mike Smith, Weather Service meteorologist in Sacramento.

The system, coming from Alaska, will bring cooler air, dropping high temperatures from the mid-70s on Sunday to the mid-60s on Monday and low 60s Tuesday.

Sunny weather is forecast Wednesday with temperatures rising again into the upper 60s and back into the 70s by Thursday.
