Charles L. ‘Chuck’ Belemecich

May 16, 1953 — Sept. 2, 2013

Sonora resident Charles L. ‘Chuck’ Belemecich died Sept. 2 at his home. He was 60.

Mr. Belemecich was born in Sonora to Charles and Joanne Belemecich.

He worked as a forklift driver for Sierra Pacific Industries for 23 years. 

He enjoyed gardening, boating, fishing, barbecuing and was a fan of the Oakland Raiders.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie Belemecich, of Sonora; his parents, Charles and Joanne Belemecich, of Sonora; his children, Carly Belemecich and Gunner Belemecich, both of Sonora; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Kevin Stewart, of Sacramento; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Denise Morton, of San Diego.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora.

Dale Dulin

Jan. 1, 1948 — Sept. 8, 2013

Jamestown resident Dale Dulin died Sept. 8 at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Dulin was born in Modesto and lived in Tuolumne County for the past 15 years. He lived in Amador and Calaveras counties and drove a Rainbow Bread truck from 1976 to 1993. 

He enjoyed computer games and reading. He most recently worked as a security guard for four years.

Mr. Dulin is survived by his daughters, Colleen Dulin, of Grants Pass, Ore., Kelly Burton, of Elk Grove, and Stacy Foster, of Folsom; his brother, Clarence Dulin, of Turlock; his sisters, Pat Merenda, of Twain Harte, and Donna Castro, of Modesto; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.

George William Rittenhouse

July 9, 1933 — Aug. 27, 2013

Sonora resident George William Rittenhouse died Aug. 27 at Valley Comfort in Modesto. He was 80.

Mr. Rittenhouse was born in Hatfield, Pa., to George and Lola Rittenhouse. As a child he was given the nicknames Bill or Billy. 

He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952, where he studied and later taught electronics. He furthered his education in electrical engineering and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1960. He later earned a master’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles. 

Mr. Rittenhouse was a pioneer in the Silicon Valley and was involved in starting Core Memories, which was later purchased by Data Products. He was also instrumental in the startup of a repair business called Three Delta.

He enjoyed playing and watching golf, woodworking, home projects and helping others with theirs, gardening, and doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles. He was a member of the Et Cetera Club of Tuolumne County, Sons in Retirement and the 3 Dollar Golf Group.

Mr. Rittenhouse was preceded in death by his parents; and his former wife, Phyllis Arlene Garman.

He is survived by his wife 34 years, Jean Marie Rittenhouse, of Sonora; his children and stepchildren and their spouses, Cathe and Val Toland, of Clayton, Laurie and Henry Faris, of San Jose, Cindy Rittenhouse, of Santa Clara, Susan Schomburg, of Boise, Idaho, Marcianne Alves, of Austin, Texas, and Robert and Tracy Alves, of Montgomery, Texas; his sister, Dorothy Magliari, of Kingston, N.Y.; his brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Diane Rittenhouse, of Media, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and nine-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northern California Area Chapter, 182 El Dorado St., Monterey, CA 93940, or the Humane Society of Tuolumne County, P.O. Box 830, Jamestown, CA 95327. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora.

Melba Elaine (Hurst) Rose

Jan. 17, 1927 — Sept. 1, 2013

Sonora resident Melba Elaine (Hurst) Rose died Sept. 1 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Rose was born in Caraway, Ark., and worked as a book binder. She lived in Sonora for 18 years. She was known as the “pool shark,” to friends. She enjoyed baking and sharing her goods with people in her apartment complex. Her hobbies included sketching and oil painting. 

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by sons, David Walton, in 1967, and John Walton, in June; and eight siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Candice Lowery, of Arnold; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sally Gillis, of San Leandro.

At her request, no services will be held.
