U.S. intelligence is a joke

To the Editor:

Yes, the U.S. intelligence record is a joke. “Private” Manning while in Iraq could secure all the classified data he wanted and transmit it outside the military.  Edward Snowden, a contract employee for the NSA, could leave work one day with the most embarrassing top secret information ever taken from a government agency. Intelligence agencies spending about $75 billion U.S. dollars a year spying on everyone except their own employees is the height of incompetency.

We have Senators like California’s Feinstein, who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee prior to 9/11, looked at the reports of intended air hijacking by terrorists, went out to eat her lunch afterwards, and like the rest of the committee did nothing to alert the airlines; and now she wants to allow the NSA to snoop into our privacy without limits.
