Letters to the editor for August 1, 2013

Thank you for the help, Jamestown

To the Editor:

To the good people of Jamestown, thank you.

I purchased a used motorcycle in Groveland last weekend, Saturday morning.  I was riding it back to the Sonora area and the battery died.  I was stuck on the side of the road by the CHP office for about two and a half hours.  In that time RVs and 4x4s stopped to ask if I needed tools or a ride.  Sedans and SUVs stopped to ask if I needed to use a cell phone or could use a bottle of water (that day was rather hot around 1 p.m.).  A shout out to bike shop in Jamestown who did not have a battery but hooked my sweetie up with the motor sports shop in Sonora who gave us a shop loaner battery to get me home.  I thank each and every one for the kindness and concern.  I don’t think my heart will let me just drive by the next motorcycle I see belly up on the side of the road.

Singing praises for SRT’s ‘Oklahoma’

To the Editor:

SRT has done it again with a wonderful performance of “Oklahoma” at the Fallon House Theatre. Great voices — energetic choreography, sets and costumes that enhanced the musical.  All made for a very enjoyable evening.  Don’t miss the opportunity to see this.

Grateful after         a close call

To the Editor:

I wish to express my thanks and appreciation to the EMTs who answered the call from Railtown on July 10 and whisked me to Sonora Regional Medical Center. Their response was swift and professional.

My thanks also to Kim Baker, Railtown superintendent, for making the call.
