Cindy Lou (Fairman) Brewer

April 8, 1949 — April 7, 2013

Sonora resident Cindy Lou Brewer died April 7 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 64.

Mrs. Brewer was born in Atwood Borough, Pa., to James and Edna Fairman.

She graduated from Marion Center High School in 1967 after studying in South America for a year as a foreign exchange student.

She worked in administration at the Nabisco factory in Oakland, where she met her husband, Charles Brewer.

Mrs. Brewer moved with her family to Smicksburg, Pa., in 1979 before moving to Twain Harte in 1989. She worked at Twain Harte Pharmacy before becoming a certified massage therapist in 1991.

Mrs. Brewer volunteered for Boy Scouts of America, Little League, Sierra AIDS Walk, Sonora Cancer Walk, Sober Grad Night for Summerville High School, local health fairs, a local hospice, and founded the Sonora Community Drum Circle in 2007.

She enjoyed gardening, weaving, cultural arts, poetry and music.

Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her father; and a nephew, Aaron Garsick, in 1993.

She is survived by her mother, Edna G. Fairman, of Indiana, Pa.; sons, Eric Brewer, of Twain Harte, and Nathan Brewer, of Sonora; granddaughters, Aeryn Brewer, of Sonora, and Natalia Brewer, of Twain Harte; siblings, Carrie Orr, of Indiana, Pa., and Lisa Garsick, of Rural Valley, Pa.; an ex-husband, Charles Brewer, of Crowley, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held, and friends and family will be notified.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

 

Richard ‘Dickie’
James Burns

May 10, 1954 — Jan. 26, 2013

Sonora resident Richard ”Dickie” James Burns died Jan. 26 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield. He was 58.

Mr. Burns was born in Stockton to Carl W. Burns and Laura Burns and attended Lincoln High School.

He served in the U.S. Army in Panama from 1972 to 1975 and then worked at McClellan Air Force Base as a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Burns married Donna Linton in 1978 and moved to Sacramento with his family. He moved to Sonora in 1982, where he owned and operated Gold Country Steam Cleaning.

He moved to Crescent City in 1992 and moved back to Sonora in 2010.

Mr. Burns enjoyed fishing, camping, telling stories, music and art.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Bill Burns.

Mr. Burns is survived by his children, Ellie Brewer, of Twain Harte, and Jordan Burns, of Jamestown; grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah Stallings, both of Twain Harte, Logan Burns, of Jamestown, and Natalia Brewer, of Twain Harte; siblings, Steve Burns, of Missouri, Honey Burns, of Fairfield, and Noel Parkhurst, of Fairfield; and an ex-wife, Donna Débleu, of Mountain Ranch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held, and family and friends will be notified.

Fairmont Cremation Services in Fairfield is handling arrangements.
