Eugene Gerald ‘Gerry’ Cummings

June 23, 1944 — Feb. 20, 2013

Columbia and Sunnyvale resident Eugene Gerald “Gerry” Cummings died Feb. 20 en route to his home in Columbia. He was 68.

Mr. Cummings was born in Farragut, Idaho, to Dorothy and Gene W. Cummings and raised in Millbrae in San Mateo County. He graduated from Mills High School in Millbrae in 1962 and San Francisco City College, with a degree in hotel and restaurant management.

He worked most of his life in the Bay Area in air freight sales, owning his own business. He also worked as a bartender at Blinky’s in Santa Clara, and Zane’s Iron Horse Lounge in Sonora.

Mr. Cummings enjoyed playing golf and travelled to courses in Maui, Hawaii, Acapulco, Mexico, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mesquite, Nev. He also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Linda Cummings, of Sunnyvale and Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald W. and Angie Cummings, of Sunnyvale; granddaughter, Fiona Cummings, of Sunnyvale; and an aunt.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zane’s Iron Horse Lounge, 97 S. Washington St., Sonora.

He will be interred at Olivet Cemetery in Colma.

Tambra Ann (Nixon) Smith

Nov. 11, 1959 — April 8, 2013

Copperopolis resident Tambra Ann (Nixon) Smith died April 8 at her home. She was 53.

Mrs. Smith was born in Los Angeles County to JoLeen and Raymond Nixon.

She lived in Copperopolis for the past year, before that she lived in Angels Camp for 27 years. She worked at Mark Twain Medical Center for 14 years.

She enjoyed the outdoors.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her father; brother, Stanley Nixon; and daughter, Raelene Sanchez.

She is survived by her mother, JoLeen Nixon, of Copperopolis; son, Matthew Smith, of Copperopolis; and grandsons, Riley Sanchez, of Angels Camp, and Brandon Smith, of Copperopolis; and a brother, Robert Nixon, of Angels Camp.

Services were held.

Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
