Three people died and a fourth suffered major injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 108/120 at O’Byrnes Ferry Road Saturday afternoon.

This morning, the victims of the wreck were identified as Alan Madeiros, 59, of Manteca; Kathleen Madeiros, 65, of Manteca; and Claude Gosselin, 51, of Roseville.

The name of the injured passenger, a 57-year-old Roseville woman, was not released this morning.

The wreck happened about 3:15 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol said a 2000 Toyota driven by Alan Madeiros was traveling west when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle drifted into the highway’s eastbound lane directly in the path of a 1999 Acura driven by Gosselin.

Neither driver had time to take evasive action, and they collided head-on, the CHP said.

Alan Madeiros and his passenger, Kathleen, were pronounced dead at the scene. Gosselin was also pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Acura was transported by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major blunt-force trauma injuries.

The highway was closed for about half-an-hour, and there was one-way traffic control in the area until 6:58 p.m., according to the CHP, causing traffic delays of up to an hour.
