Did you think it was unseasonably hot yesterday? You’re right.

Sonora met its record-high temperature for the date yesterday — the thermometer hitting 78 degrees. The record was set in 1934.

The record low for the date is 21 degrees, set in 1977.

Sonora received no precipitation yesterday, while the record for the date is 1.65 inches in 1982.

Today is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high around 75. Temperatures are expected to lower slowly into the upper 60s by Tuesday, which may see rain. Tuesday has a slight chance of rain forecast, and Wednesday has a chance of rain. Following that is a predicted return to warmer, drier weather.

Note: The Union Democrat is seeking weather watch volunteers in Angels Camp, Arnold, Mi-Wuk Village, Brice Station and Pinecrest to measure and record high and low temperatures and precipitation levels.  Contact Austen Thibault at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 588-4525.
