A man who crashed his motorcycle north of Columbia this afternoon was pronounced dead at Sonora Regional Medical Center.

No details about the man's identity were released.

According to California Highway Patrol, he and a friend, who was on another motorcycle, were northbound on Parrotts Ferry Road around 1:45 p.m.

The injured man came to a curve in the road just before Parrotts Ferry Bridge and crossed the double yellow lines, the CHP said.

He traveled into the southbound shoulder, collided with a guardrail and was ejected from the motorcycle, the CHP said.

He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
