Dale M. Anderson

April 3, 1945 — Feb. 9, 2013

Sonora resident Dale Anderson died Feb. 9 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Anderson was born in Sonora and lived here all his life. He graduated from Columbia Elementary School, including being one of the first kindergarten students at the new school, and Sonora High School, where he was on the track team.

Mr. Anderson was a car salesman at Dambacher Auto in Sonora and McLaren Auto Sales in Jamestown and a manager at Sprouse Ritz in the Modesto area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and toured Vietnam three times on a river boat.

He enjoyed the forest, cutting and selling wood, camping, fishing, and taking his grandchildren to amusement parks. He was a cornea and tissue donor.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father, Gilford Anderson; mother, Margaret “Betty” (Gibbs) Herbert; and stepfather, Fred Herbert.

He is survived by partner, Rose Dornes, of Sonora; children, Catherine Anderson, of Sonora, Gretchen Siri and husband, Jeff, of San Jose, Justin Anderson, of Texas, Andy Anderson, of California; grandchildren, Elena Magdaleno, of Sonora, Maurica Walton, of Fort Collins, Colo., Kody Walton, of Sumter, S.C., Elizabeth, Taylor and Jason Siri, of San Jose; siblings, Cathy Meyers, of Sonora, Linda Pachaud, of the Bay Area, and Bob Anderson, of Sonora; two great-grandchildren; one niece; and many cousins.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 East Rose St..

Juan Calanchi Larez

May 23, 1933 — Feb. 6, 2013

Sonora resident Juan Calanchi Larez died Feb. 6 at University of California, Davis, Medical Center. He was 79.

Mr. Larez was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Gavino and Flora (Calanchi) Larez. He moved to San Jose to raise his family.

He worked as a commercial and residential painter for 50 years in San Jose. He retired to Sonora 18 years ago.  

Mr. Larez enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Larez, in the early 1990s.

He is survived by sons, Juan Larez and Lawrence Larez, both of San Jose; daughters, Flora Harding, of Lathrop, and Maryjane Rivera Larez, both of San Jose; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heuton Memorial Chapel, 400 S. Stewart St., Sonora.

KINNETT — Thomas “Jay” Kinnett, 66, of Tuolumne, died Tuesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
