Sarah Anne (Reiben) Kiriluk

Sept. 23, 1939 — Feb. 6, 2013

Valley Springs resident Sarah Kiriluk died Feb. 6 at Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. She was 73.

Mrs. Kiriluk was born in French Camp to Alex and Anna Reiben. She moved to the Sonora area with her family when she was very young.

She worked as a postmaster in Tuolumne from 1971 to 1991.

She was a member of the Sonora Moose Lodge, Tuolumne Horseshoe Club and Valley Springs RV Club, and was a supporter of the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee. 

She enjoyed playing cards, bowling in Sonora leagues and playing women’s fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball. She was inducted into the Tuolumne County Softball Hall of Fame in 1990.  

Mrs. Kiriluk was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Fred Reibin, Walt Reibin and Vera Morris.

She is survived by her partner, Ed Engle, of Valley Springs; children, Lorri Meza, and her husband, Efren, of Sonora, Ron Thornburg, of Tuolumne, Serge Kiriluk, of Tuolumne, and Kristen Redman, and her husband, Gary, of Valley Springs; grandchildren, Tanya Martior, of Madera, Tiffany McBride, of Sonora, Ray Meza, of Sonora, Alicia Thornburg, of Tuolumne, Alex and Billy Kiriluk, both of Sonora, Crystal and Shalyn Redman, of Valley Springs; and sister, Nellie Richetti, of Manteca.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. March 9 at Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road.

Steve Vincent Strozier

July 7, 1951 — Dec. 18, 2013

Sonora resident Steve Vincent Strozier died Dec. 18 at his home. He was 61.

Mr. Strozier was born in Tucson, Ariz., to Norma McCallum. He moved to Sonora in 1978.

He owned his own painting business, Strozier’s Painting. He was a member of E Clampus Vitus Matuca Chapter 1849.

Mr. Strozier enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, hunting, fishing, woodworking and other creative hobbies. He also enjoyed traveling to Nevada and vacationing with friends.

Mr. Strozier was preceded in death by his mother, Norma McCallum.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Christine Strozier, of Oakley; daughters, Shannon and Elizabeth Strozier, of the Bay Area; stepdaughter, Breezy Summer Day, of Sonora; half-brother, Willie McCallum, of the Bay Area; and grandchildren, Carson and Jacob Strozier, of Oakley.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Sonora Elks Lodge, 100 Elk Drive.
