Missing woman found

A 76-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s
disease who was reported missing from the 18000 block of Aarondale Road at 11:01 a.m. Saturday was found just as it was getting dark the same day.

Barbara Kofford, who was described as 5
feet, 2 inches tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and green eyes, went missing after her husband, Gary, saw her outside looking for her cat at 9:32 a.m. He and neighbors spent about 1 1/2 hours looking for her, then called the Sheriff's Office for help.

An extensive search was begun by neighbors and other volunteers, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, Tuolumne County Search and Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office’s volunteer Community Service Unit members and a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
With no luck in sight, the search was expected to be called off at dark and resumed Sunday morning.
However, residents of Buttercup Lane in Bluebelle Valley, a mile or two from where she went missing, heard a woman calling for her cat just before 7 p.m. and found her. They knew about the search and called her husband, who came and picked her up, Tuolumne County Sheriff's Sergeant Jeff Wilson said. Their names were not available Saturday night.
