A Sonora High School senior, Emily Simas, is selling “Val-O-Grams” to raise money for the school choir.

“Val-O-Grams” consist of candy gift bags and something you can’t buy at the grocery store: Sonora High School students singing one of six songs for your sweetheart or friend on Valentine’s Day.

The experience can be bought for $5, but recipients must be students or faculty on the Sonora High School campus.

Buyers can choose from one of five songs: “Fallin’ for You” by Colbie Caillat, “My Best Friend” by Tim McGraw, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction, “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, “5-1-50” by Dierks Bentley, or “Heart on Fire” by Jonathan Clay.

Val-O-Grams are now something of a tradition on the Sonora High campus. The proceeds can go to concert outfits, music or choir trips.

Simas, who chose to organize the fundraiser for her senior project, has been in choir for all four of her high school years.

“I’m in love with music,” she said. “I wanted to do something with it for my senior project.”

Val-O-Gram orders can be placed on the fundraiser’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/sonorahs.choirboosters. Payment should be dropped off at the Sonora High School main office.
