A woman in Tuolumne slit the throat of her boyfriend on Christmas Eve, according to a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office report.

Cal Fire received a phone call about 11:30 p.m. Monday from a woman on Carter Street saying she had grabbed a knife and slit the man’s throat and that he was “bleeding heavily but still conscious,” police said.

The caller, who identified herself to dispatchers only as “Chaedel,” said that her boyfriend attacked her during a domestic dispute so she grabbed the weapon, cut him and that he then lay on the floor bleeding “really bad,” according to the report.

Police said the woman told dispatchers she no longer knew where the knife was but that it was no longer in her possession.

A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office spokesman declined to provide further information on the incident when contacted Wednesday.

“This is probably going to be a lengthy case that is going to end up going to trial and we don’t want to, as they say, try it in the media,” Sgt. Jeff Wilson said.

He declined to give any information on the man’s condition or whether any arrests had been made. No arrests regarding this case were included in the public dispatch logs.

A Sonora Regional Medical Center spokesperson said no one with a slit throat was treated there.
