Calaveras County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 49-year-old Mokelumne Hill woman Thursday after she allegedly brought a loaded handgun into the Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Camille Suzanne Green entered the public lobby about 9:55 a.m. with the revolver in a holster on her hip.

A deputy working the front desk immediately challenged Green and obtained the gun. Other deputies assisted in arresting the woman.

Green allegedly told deputies she was carrying the gun because she was in fear of her life, although she could not coherently describe why, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

After further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office believed the woman was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Green was booked into Calaveras County Jail on suspicion of using a drug while in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a public building. Both are felony charges.

She was also booked on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and being under the influence of a drug.
