A 73-year-old woman was seriously injured Wednesday in a traffic collision near Columbia.

California Highway Patrol was dispatched about 11:25 a.m. to the accident involving two Ford Escort sedans at Parrotts Ferry and Sawmill Flat roads.

Riki Holman, of Columbia, suffered major injuries after her 2000 Escort crashed into a 1996 Escort driven by Moriah Hoefert, 18, of Ceres, who was turning left from Sawmill Flat Road onto Parrotts Ferry Road, the CHP reported.

Holman was flown by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, while Hoefert was taken by Tuolumne County Ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released for minor injuries.

Holman was driving north on Parrotts Ferry Road about 35 mph when Hoefert drove directly into her path, CHP said. Holman had no time to take an evasive action and crashed into Hoefert’s car, CHP said.

Holman’s condition was not available this morning.
