 Kyle James McPeters

Jan. 22, 1990 — July 25, 2012

Army Sgt. Kyle James McPeters, a resident of Sonora, died July 25 in Fayetteville, N.C. He was 22.

Mr. McPeters was born in Sonora to Veronda Tune and Lyle McPeters.

He attended Sonora High School before graduating from Sonora Adult School in 2008.

He joined the U.S. Army in 2008 and served in Afghanistan from July 2010 to July 2011. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.

He enjoyed football and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sonora.

Mr. McPeters was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James C. McPeters, in 2010, and Virgil D. Hendrix, in 2011. 

He is survived by his wife, Bianca McPeters, of Sonora; children, Kyler, 3, and Zhaden, 2; his mother and stepfather, Veronda and Norman Tune, of Sonora, his father, Lyle McPeters, of Soulsbyville; sister, Kacie Tune, of Sonora, and stepbrother, David Tune, of Sonora; and grandparents, Vera Hendrix, of Riverbank, Sylvia Watterson, of Soulsbyville, and Velinda McPeters, of Groveland. 

Flowers can be sent to Sierra Bible Church. 

Viewing will be held at 10 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. at Sierra Bible Church. The burial will follow at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora. 

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Earl D. ‘Dave’ Perkins

May 12, 1961 — July 28, 2012

Sonora resident Earl D. “Dave” Perkins died Saturday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 51. 

Mr. Perkins was born in Ocala, Fla., to Dan and Beaula Perkins but was raised in Idaho. He moved to Tuolumne County in 1991. 

He graduated from Glenns Ferry High School and was a certified master automotive technician.

Mr. Perkins met Sandra Henderson in Mountain Home, Idaho, and the couple wed June 18, 1988, in Nampa, Idaho. 

He served in the Army National Guard and Reserve from August 1979 to March 1985. 

As a young man he enjoyed swimming in the Snake River and working on cars. He was a fan of NASCAR and NHRA drag racing. 

Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his father, grandmother and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sandra Perkins, of Sonora; his mother, Beaula Parks of Gooding, Idaho; his children, Sarah Perkins, of Sonora, Alexander Perkins, of Sonora, and James McDaniel, of Chico; siblings, Cindy Niebla, of Sonora, Susie Black, of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Paul Perkins, of Phoenix, Ariz., Daniel Perkins, of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Gillian McDaniel, of Chico; and many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life was held privately. 

Heuton Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements. 

Mary Ann Whitt

July 4, 1942 — July 31, 2012

Tuolumne resident Mary Ann (Rodgers) Whitt died Tuesday at home. She was 70. 

Mrs. Whitt was born in Sonora to Douglas and Lorraine Rodgers.

She worked in bookkeeping and accounting for 35 years and as a deputy county clerk for 10 years. 

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Guild, the Parent Teacher Association, and the Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee committee. She was a board member of the Tuolumne City Museum and the Tuolumne Cemetery District. 

She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and scrapbooking. 

Mrs. Whitt was preceded in death by her mother in 1994 and father in 2001.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wesley Whitt, of Tuolumne; her three children and their spouses, Jan and Mark Bray, of Clovis, Larry and Heather Whitt, of Tuolumne, and Laura Whitt Foerster, of Chowchilla; her siblings and their spouses, Knute and Linda Rodgers, of Placerville, and Kim and Kalen Questo, of Soulsbyville; her six grandchildren, Justin and Ryan Bray, of Clovis, Breanne, Samuel and Hannah Whitt, of Tuolumne, and A.J. Colagross, of Livermore; and and several generations of nieces and nephews. 

Donations can be made to Tuolumne City Memorial Museum or Hospice of the Sierra. 

A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tuolumne.
