The “I can’t believe I beat myself” club inducted just one bowler — Walt Bales (Helakno Full House) with 82 pins over for a 267. Reminding us ever so subtly that he has bowled a perfect game previously was Bruce Peterson (Black Oak 9-Pin No-Tap) as he almost bowled a perfect 300 game – it had just one no-tap strike. He also had the high series with an 841. For the women it was Jackie Allen with a 275 and Kay Hunter with 634. Over in the Wild Nite Out league, it’s Joy Meyers with a 191 and Nanette Warzee with a 553 for the women. For the men, it’s Tyler Newton with a 176 and Ken Button with a 476. As for highlights from the previous week: Curtis Leonard (Jokers Wild) found the sweet spot, bowling 11 in a row until the 4-pin got him in the 10th frame for a game of 289. That was the high game for the men while league-mate Dan Isam had the high mens’ series with a 749. Jeannie Philbin (Summer Morning Rollers) bowled the high game and series for the women with a 243/656. Other impressive scores from the previous week: High Rollers – George Clark 265, Dan Isam 256/662; Jokers Wild – Fallon Chastain 237, John Miller 259, John Blatzer 257, Anthony Chastain 675, Curtis Leonard 658; Helakno Full House – John Rago 258, Dave Rossi 258/679 and Kevin Flanagan 677. The “I can’t believe I beat myself” club inducted George Clark (High Rollers) 100 pins over 265; Pat Otto (Summer Morning Rollers) 75 over with 230; Jokers Wild – Curtis Leonard 96 pins over with 289, Mike Drennan 92 pins over with 223, and Fallon Chastain 106 over with 237. Starting out with a spare in the first frame and then throwing five natural strikes with six no-tap strikes to end with a 290 game in the Black Oak 9-pin No-Tap league was Mel Lawrence. For the women Kay Hunter had a 258/667. Bruce Peterson had the high series with a 760. In Wild Nite Out, Bonnie Warzee had the high women’s game of 164 and Nanette Warzee high series of 457. For the men, Brian Kermeen rolled a 164 and Dale Robbins had a 491 series. Answer: Derek Gregory in 1996 and Trini Mercado in 1997 as both had a 2140 Handicap All Events score.
