The committee overseeing Big Oak Flat-Groveland Unified School District’s Measure M bond money will review completed projects, and possible uses for the remaining funds, at a regular meeting Tuesday. The four-person committee will elect a chairperson and get an update on the ongoing modernization of the Tenaya Elementary gymnasium.
The administration building and primary-grade building have also been modernized with money from the $9.3 million Measure M bond, which district voters passed in 2005. Completing the gym modernization will be the first priority for the approximately $2.1 million that remains, according to district secretary Jennifer Shimer. Possible uses for the remaining money include upgrading the Tenaya Elementary playground to make it compliant with federal disability-access regulations. District Superintendent Jim Frost has recommended the district invest in technology infrastructure, with the eventual goal of having each of the district’s high school students use their own laptops. The bond oversight committee reviews information and makes recommendations to the Big Oak Flat-Groveland Unified School District Board of Trustees. It cannot decide on uses for the money, according to Shimer. Shimer said this is the bond committee’s first regular meeting in about a year and a half. It has two new members. The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in the district office, 19177 Highway 120 in Groveland. |
