Federal, state taxes are due
on April 17

The last day to file 2011 state and federal tax returns without an extension is Tuesday, April 17.

The date was pushed back from its traditional April 15 date because it fell on a Sunday and the next Monday was a federal holiday.

Next Tuesday is also the last day to file an extension with the IRS. The last day to e-file for late filers or tax extension filers is Oct. 15.

Taxpayers have until April 15, 2015 to file an amended return to claim a tax refund.
