‘Marge’ Dunker
Sept. 25, 1918 — March 25, 2012

    Longtime Sonora resident Margaret Viola “Marge” Realdsen Dunker died March 25 at Meadowview Manor in Sonora. She was 93.
    Mrs. Dunker was born on a farm in South Dakota. She was the second oldest of five children born to Arntand Anna Realdsen, who emigrated to the United States from Norway in the late 1800s.
    She attended Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, S.D., and earned a teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Kidder, S.D., and often rode a horse to school.
    She married Ralph Dunker, a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in 1941. They moved to Washington, D.C., where Mrs. Dunker worked for the U.S. Weather Bureau. Her husband was transferred to the Cleveland office where they raised their family until 1971.
    When Mr. Dunker got a new job at Bank of America in charge of credit card fraud, the couple moved to San Rafael and through his job, they traveled the world. They moved to Tuolumne County in 1981 and built a home in the Cuesta Serena area of Sonora.
    Mrs. Dunker enjoyed volunteering and was superintendent of Sunday school at Euclid Lutheran Church in Euclid, Ohio, where she also served many years as a “pink lady” volunteer at Euclid Glenville Hospital. She also was a Campfire Girls leader.
    In Tuolumne County, Mrs. Dunker was a Sonora Lioness, the sister service club to the Lions, in the 1980s and ’90s. She also taught reading in the Tuolumne County literacy program and was a hospice volunteer.
    She enjoyed bowling, golf, bridge and hiking. She was a member of the Newcomers Club and the Red Hat Society.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph “Dunk” Dunker; her brother, Richard Realdsen; sisters and brothers-in-law Eleanor and Don Honea, Nora and Ernie Parducci, and Florence and Jack Sebring.
    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rod and Karen Dunker, of Roanoke, Va.; her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Jim Beaty, of Columbia; her son and his partner, Bob Dunker and Sandy Banzet, of Columbia; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mable Realdsen, of Morris, Minn., and Michael Honea, of Brentwood.
    A private family service was held.

G. Farrell
July 21, 1928 — March 23, 2012

    Former Tuolumne County resident Geraldine G. Farrell died March 23 at Easy Living Care Center in Livermore. She was 83.
    Mrs. Farrell was born in Fairfax, Okla., the only child of John and Anna Lasley. She met and then married her high school sweetheart, Charles Lee Farrell, in 1944. They had two sons, Charles Lee Farrell Jr. and John Robert Farrell.
    As a young woman, she enjoyed dirt bike riding, fishing and hunting. She retired from the city of Livermore as assistant city clerk. She was a member of the Sac & Fox Tribe of Kansas, and was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
    She was a seamstress and machine embroider and also enjoyed square dancing and motorhome outings with groups.
Mrs. Farrell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Farrell.
    She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Charles Farrell Jr. and Cindi Farrell, and John and Robbie Farrell, all of California; her granddaughter, Cassandra Farrell; and one great-grandchild, Ralyna.
    A memorial service was scheduled at 11 a.m. today at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1020 Mocho St., Livermore.
    Viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Riverside Building, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson.

    BUIE — Mary Kathryn Buie, 74, of Tuttletown, died Tuesday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    OLLEY — Karri Anderson Olley, 50, of Sonora, died March 23 at her home. Viewing will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday with a funeral to follow from 2 to 3 p.m. at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose Ave., Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
