George L. Williams
Dec. 15, 1920 — March 4, 2012

    Longtime Groveland resident George L. Williams died March 4 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 91.
    Mr. Williams was born in Altus, Okla., and served in World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a painting contractor for 20 years in Los Gatos before moving to Groveland in 1976. He built more than 180 homes in Pine Mountain Lake before retiring in 2007.
    Mr. Williams enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He grew vegetables, fruits and roses and enjoyed giving his friends items from his garden.
    Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dale Williams, in 1989; his son, Buddy Williams, in 1973; and his daughter, Jeanne Williams, in 2009.
    Mr. Williams is survived by daughters Kandace Williams, of Jamestown, and Sheila Dougall, of Groveland; grandchildren, Russ Metzger, of Eagle, Idaho, Brian Dougall, of Mammoth Lake, and Tyler Dougall, of Paradise; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lavonda Steffen, of Erick, Okla.
    A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Groveland.
    Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Robert Frederick ‘Bob’ Allan
June 1, 1926 — Feb. 27, 2012

    Murphys resident Robert Frederick “Bob” Allan died Feb. 27 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 85.
    Mr. Allan was born in Erie, Pa., and after he graduated from high school moved to New York to study acting and ended up doing some stage and television work. In World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Air Force and gunner school.
    At the end of his service, Mr. Allan moved to California to further his interest in acting. Mr. Allan, who wanted to be a cowboy, later bought a ranch in Lancaster where he bought and sold horses, learned to rope and became a “heeler” in team roping.
As his family began to grow, Mr. Allan moved on to become a salesman and sold pharmacy and shipping supplies until his retirement.
Mr. Allan and his wife moved to Arnold in 1976 where they lived until 1991 when they moved to the Murphys Diggins Mobile Home Park. Mr. Allan enjoyed golf and dancing and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge.
    Mr. Allan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ina Allan, of Murphys; children; Penny Hauserman, Robin Sumerlin, Autumn Lindamood and Nick Allan; stepchildren, David Gerlach, Jerri Lynn West, Larry Gerlach, Linda Miles and Nancy Houle; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Allan was preceeded in death by his parents; and three stepchildren.
    Services will be private.
    Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

    VALENCIA — Juan Antonio Valencia, 81, of Valley Springs, died March 5 at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Andrews Catholic Church in San Andreas. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
