Frogs and Skins each advance a round at duals

    The Bret Harte Bullfrogs and Calaveras Redskins wrestling teams competed at the Sac-Joaquin Section team duals on Saturday at Rosemont High School in Stockton. After smashing Lindhurst 66-18 in the Division V first round, the Bullfrogs lost to Ripon 43-33 in the semifinals.

   

  Ripon won the tournament. The Redskins earned a first-round bye and then suffered a 42-25 defeat to Escalon.

    For Bret Harte, Caleb Storey, (right) wrestling at 106 pounds, Giovanni Murillo (13 and Justin Barnes (145) each won their two matches by pin. Storey pined his first opponent at 1:57 and his second at 2:33. Murillo flipped his first opponent in 1:25 and his second at 1:40. Barnes earned a first-round pin at 1:55 and then won by pin at 4:47.

    Also for the Bullfrogs against Lindhurst, Wyatt Walraven (120) won by pin at 1:56, Lyford Morris (126) won by pin at 1:27, Aaron Richey (132) won by forfeit, Anthony Bertolino (152) won by pin at 1:02, Tanner Sherrow (160) won by pin at 2:54 and Luke Brewer (182) won by pin just 34 seconds into his match. Against Ripon in the semifinals, Richey won by pin at 3:16, John Rohrabaugh (170) won by pin at 5:39 and Alex Miramontes (195) won by decision.

    Bret Harte and Calaveras next will participate in the Mother Lode League meet at Linden on Friday.
