Summerville students arrested in plot to shoot students, faculty

Tuolumne County Sheriff James Mele, Assistant District Attorney Eric Hovatter, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Cathy Parker, and Summerville Union High School District Superintendent Robert Griffith Saturday speak a press conference about the arrest of four students plotting a shooting at Summerville High School.
Four male students are in custody for plotting to gun down students and faculty at an upcoming Summerville High School event.


The students, while not in possession of any weapons, had detailed the plot in written plans that included a list of specific names, and how to obtain guns, Tuolumne County Sheriff James Mele said.

 Battalion Chief Mike Olivarria of Cal Fire’s Amador-El Dorado Unit was at Sutter Hill Fire Station 60 about two-and-a-half miles north of Jackson on Highway 49 when he was dispatched to a fire near Butte Mountain Road in Amador County.

 Healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries in the Mother Lode, a fact well-known by Barry Hillman, director of Sonora nonprofit HealthLitNow, which will launch the first in series of health career fairs for Tuolumne County students next week.

These were the materials third-grade students at Sonora Elementary School had Friday to make a structure strong enough to support a small paperback book.
