Stephanie Sarah Eastep

Nov. 7, 1985 — May 14, 2009

Stephanie Sarah “Nene” Eastep, of Sonora, died May 14 in a wreck on Highway 108 near Knights Ferry. She was 23.

She grew up in Sonora, graduating from Columbia Elementary School, then Theodore Bird High School.

She was a pharmacy technician for Longs Drugs for about seven years and was in the process of transferring to the Sonora store from Brentwood in Contra Costa County. She had worked at the Sonora store during her high school years.

Her interests included rockabilly music, art, attending local plays, old automobiles, sailing, exploring San Francisco and James Dean movies.

Her family said she was good at drawing and painting in watercolors.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Sylvia Eastep in 1998, Joe Eastep in 2004; Dolores Overman in 2005; and La Mar Overman, in 2006.

She is survived by her parents, Fred and Janet Eastep, of Sonora; a sister and brother-in-law, Justin and Alexandria White, of Sonora; a sister, Melissa Eastep, of Europe; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dorothy E. ‘Dottie’ Bowers

Sept. 11, 1918 — May 2, 2009

Longtime San Andreas resident Dorothy E. “Dottie” Bowers died May 2 at a Sonora care center. She was 90.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Desota, Ill., to John Herman and Phoebe Hope (Williams) De Witt. She married Raymond “Lefty” Bowers in 1945.

She moved to California during World War II and lived at several locations in the state during her lifetime. She worked as a general laborer for 30 years.

Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by her husband in March 1977; her parents; brothers Clyde Herman De Witt Sr., Leonard E. De Witt and Arthur “Glenn” De Witt; and sisters, Edith M. Kobetts and Opal L. Fisher.

She is survived by sisters, Frances M. Smith, of Carbondale, Ill., and Ruby “Maxine” Grizzell, of Longview, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph G. and Doris De Witt, of East Peoria, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Cora De Witt, of Carbondale, and Billie Coulter, of Granada Hills, Los Angeles County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were private and cremation has occurred. The ashes will be buried will be in the family plot at McKinney Hill Cemetery in Carbondale, Ill.

San Andreas Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

GABRIELSON — Lloyd Gabrielson, 92, of Sonora, died May 18 at a Sonora care center. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

WENDLING — Martha Anne Wendling, 71, of Sonora, died May 18 at a care center in Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County.
