The Summerville High School boys basketball team kept their playoff hopes alive Friday night with a 64-63 win over Brookside Christian.

“The Bears had a standout night on the boards, out-rebounding Brookside 42-23,” said coach Ben Watson

Leading the way on scoring for Summerville was Jiovani AmayaWood. He had a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Kyle Norton also captured a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Luke Fulkerson added 12 points and five assists.

“Mitch Prevost did a great job with the ball against the press,” said Watson.

The Bears are seeded No. 6 in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Division V bracket. Brookside was No. 3.

This is Summerville’s second win in the postseason. They crushed No. 1 Denair in the first round, 55-32.

Next up is the No. 2 seed Colfax Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Colfax.

The Falcons were 8-2 in league and 20-8 in regular season play.

Their first postseason win came against No. 7 Mariposa, 83-59.
