A Sacramento woman was arrested Tuesday morning in Jackson on suspicion of petty theft and possessing stolen property that included the registration for a Calaveras County government vehicle.
The Amador County Sheriff’s Facebook page stated that an employee of a Jamba Juice in Jackson reported a woman in the parking lot who was looking into vehicles and trying to open car doors.
A detective in the area quickly found the woman while she was rummaging through a car in the parking lot, according to the post.
Breanna Walker, 27, told Amador County Sheriff’s deputies that she was released from Calaveras County Jail a few days earlier and got a ride to Amador County, the post stated.
Walker was allegedly found in possession of property from the vehicle she was found in, as well as the registration from the Calaveras County vehicle. She was taken to Amador County Jail.
Sgt. Rachelle Whiting, spokeswoman for the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, said the Calaveras County Administrative Department filed a report Tuesday afternoon about the registration that was stolen from an unlocked government vehicle sometime before Walker’s arrest.
Whiting said no other items were reported stolen.
