Sierra NonProfit Services is accepting nominations for its annual “Volunteers, the Heart of Tuolumne County” awards luncheon.
Nominations can be made in any of five categories:
Extra Mile Award —Awarded to an individual who has a passion for service to the community; $500 to donate to the cause of their choice.
The Volunteer’s Champion Award — Awarded to a nonprofit organization that does an outstanding job of supporting and recognizing its volunteers; $500 to donate to the cause of their choice.
Community Excellence Award — Awarded to a for-profit business that promotes volunteerism among its employees and supports nonprofits in the community; $500.00 to donate to the cause of their choice.
Never Too Young Award — Awarded to a person between the ages of 6 and 18 who sees beyond themselves and works to improve the community. (Note: A recent high-school graduate who was an active volunteer in their school-age years may be nominated); $500 to donate to the cause of their choice.
Lifetime Achievement Award — Awarded to an individual to honor a lifetime of volunteer service that has positively impacted the community; $1,000.00 to donate to the cause of their choice.
An independent panel of Judges from a cross-section of business and community organizations will review and select winners in each category. All individual nominations are recognized with honorable mention at the luncheon. The awards are sponsored by organizations and businesses throughout the community. Award winners made divide their gift in any combination to give.
Nominations must be made online at sierranonproft.org and are due by 5 p.m. March 8.
The awards luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Sonora Elks Lodge, 100 Elk Drive in Sonora.
