St. Matthew Lutheran Church Women’s Missionary League will hold a Christmas Faire and Bake Sale today at the church, 13880 Joshua Way, off Lambert Lake Road in East Sonora.

The event will offer homemade jams, jellies, candies, canned goods along with the baked goods and many handcrafted items and gifts.

A luncheon of soups, salad, homemade pies and beverages will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for lunch is $10 per person.

A drawing for a handmade quilt, three paintings by local artists and a gift basket will be held. Tickets cost $1 each or six for $5, and ticketholders do not need to be present to win.

All funds raised will be used to help Interfaith Community Social Services, Sonora Pregnancy Center and other local, national and international charities.

The Women’s Fellowship of the Sonora United Methodist Church will present a homemade Soup Buffet and Gift Sale Saturday at the church, 90 Yaney Ave., in Sonora.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include baked goods and gifts, a jewelry from African Team Ministries, the proceeds from which will be used to help provide drip irrigation systems in Africa.

A soup buffet will include a choice of homemade soups, rolls, dessert and a beverage for $10 per person.

Proceeds from the event in general will be used for mission projects.

Judith Shimer will speak about “Opening Our Hearts to Healing” and a service Sunday of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Tuolumne County.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. in the Community Room at the Tuolumne County Library, 480 Greenley Road in Sonora.

Discover Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sonora will host its 17th annual Veterans Day Recognition Program Nov. 11 at the church, 40 N. Forest Road in Sonora.

The event will honor those who served or are serving to protect America’s freedom. All veterans, whether active or retired, having served or are serving in any of the armed forces, including the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, are invited to attend.

Soulsbyville United Methodist Church will hold its monthly senior night for people 60 and older on Nov. 16.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the church’s social hall and will include dinner, games and island music performed by Kalolaine and Friends. Dinner will include cowboy beans, loaded baked potatoes, salad, corn bread and dessert. Cost for dinner is $7 per person.

St. Susanna Orthodox Church hosts Bible study at 6 p.m. every Wednesday.

The group’s current focus is on soteriology, the doctrine of salvation.

Meditation and Modern Buddhism in Sonora is offered from 3 to 4 p.m. each Sunday at the Yoga Loft, 72 S. Stewart St.

The meetings provide group study, meditations and discussion. Hosts will play recorded teachings by American Buddhist nun Kelsang Chogyop.

A $5 to $10 donation is requested.
