Home Ownership Expo set Saturday in Sonora
A Home Ownership Expo will be held free to the public will be held Saturday at the Sonora Opera Hall in downtown Sonora.
The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and will include information on greening your home, buying a home, water conservation, home rehabilitation, solar energy and financing for green updates. Experts in lending, real estate, green home improvements, loan and grant programs and inspections and trade, as well as representatives from city and county agencies, will be available to answer questions.
Food and prize drawings will also be offered.
The event is co-sponsored by the Tuolumne County Association of Realtors, TCEDA, City of Sonora, Tuolumne County and Freedom Energy Corporation.

Junction to host Halloween Parade
and Costume Contest
The Junction shopping center will host its annual Halloween Parade and Costume Contest Saturday at the center on Mono Way in East Sonora.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. under the clock, and prizes will be awarded in four categories: Up to 4 years old, 5 to 8 years old, 9 to 12 years old and group costumes.
The parade will start at 11 a.m., and participants should bring their own trick-or-treat back for collecting candy.
Columbia chamber, others, will host Boo Boulevard Halloween
The Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Columbia State Historic Park and Friends of Columbia State Historic Park will sponsor a Boo Boulevard Halloween Saturday at the park.
From 3 to 6 p.m., Columbia business owners, docents and park staff will partner to open more than 15 trick-or-treat stops for visitors dressed in Halloween costumes.
Beginning and 4 p.m., visitors are invited to bring their carved pumpkins to the Columbia Museum at the center of town for the annual Illumination of Jack-o-Lanterns. Prizes will be awarded in various categories.

managing funeral director for Heuton
Dan Gaton has been named managing funeral director for Heuton Memorial Chapel in Sonora.
Gaton brings with him more that 30 years of experience arranging funeral and memorial services for families of all faiths, stated a press release. He is a Marine Corp veteran and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Sonora Lions Club. He graduated from Cypress College Funeral Services Program in Los Angeles.
Michael Heuton, the son of founders Russell and Dorothy Heuton, will take a step back from management but will continue to be involved in funeral services and arrangements. Heuton and longtime funeral attendant and assistant manager Larry Scamara will serve as mentors to Gaton.
