Dinner, auction
to benefit hospice

The 18th annual Art Auction at Karmére Winery and Vineyards in Shenandoah Valley will be held Friday to benefit the Hospice of Amador and Calaveras.

The event will feature appetizers during a raffle and auction preview, wine, dinner and live music performed by Darcel Hunter and Gordon Rowland.

Cost is $70 per person, and all proceeds will benefit hospice, which for 35 years has provided families with end-of-life care for all, regardless of ability to pay.

Ceremony will honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The annual Pink in the Night lighting ceremony in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Terrace Plaza in Valley Springs.

People who attend the event can pick up a pink, 60-watt porch light so they can help honor the month by lighting up their homes.

The plaza is at 1906 Vista Del Lago Drive.

Annual Ladies
Night Out set Oct. 5 in Sonora

Adventist Health Sonora will host its fifth annual Ladies Night Out on Oct. 5 in recognition of National Breast Health Awareness Month.

Ladies Night Out is scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in downtown Sonora.

Events for the evening will include music, a celebration wall, memorial candle lighting, photo booth, “bead walk” to create a “FIND-A-CURE” keyring, free mani‘cures’, window display contest, prizes and a passport book filled with special deals and coupons to be stamped at participating businesses. There will also be a raffle for a large gift basket that will include tickets to the 2018 Joie de Vie Gala, valued at more than $400.

Participants can check in either at Courthouse Square or above Coffill Park to receive a passport book, “bead walk” keyring, window display contest ballot and raffle entry. The first 250 to register will receive a free gift.

Many local businesses will participate in the window display contest and will stay open late to provide special deals and giveaways.

Annual Health Fair slated Oct. 17 and 18

The 39th annual Adult Health Fair will be held next month at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.

Among the various screenings offered at two-day event, Oct. 17 and 18, will be a blood chemistry draw that includes a comprehensive blood panel, lipid profile, thyroid test and A1c for $25 per person. Men over 40 can get a PSA test for an addition $10. Only cash or checks will be accepted, and a 12-hour fast is recommended.

Free flu vaccines will be offered in the Creekside Building. Medicare will be billed, and donations will be accepted.

The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Doors for the blood draw open at 5 a.m. to accommodate working adults.
