Sonora-based Jank Tones will be the featured band Friday when the Murphys Community Club’s First Friday in the Park concert is presented at Murphys Community Park. The band was recently secured to replace original performers John Covert’s Crystal Image Band (who were forced to cancel due to health issues).
The Jank Tones consist of bass, guitar and drums. The band aims to “create an atmosphere for those who want to dance.”
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
From June to September, the First Friday in the Park series features a free performance by a musical group playing in the park’s gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m.
From 4 p.m., tickets for a dinner will be available for purchase at $12 per person, and a local wine will be for sale along with other drinks.
On Friday, Sierra Hills Market and Lila & Sage will be catering the dinner, while Milliaire Winery will be the featured wine. The menu will include barbecue chicken, grilled flat iron steak, red potato salad with green beans, pasta salad, garlic bread, cookies and watermelon.
Next up in the series is Free Fahlen, a classic rock cover band on Aug. 5, and local group Plan B on Sept. 2. This is the tenth year the Murphys Community Club has presented the music series.
