Damien Carabello lead Sonora on a wild rally Tuesday, but the Riverbank Bruins held off the comeback and sent the Wildcats home with a 6-4 defeat.

Carabello, a senior, scored all four Wildcat goals and helped erase deficits of 3-0 and 4-1.

Down 3-0 in the first half, Carabello got the Wildcats on the board before the break.

The Bruins scored quickly in the final period but Carabello's second-half hat trick helped rally Sonora to tie the game at 4 with 10 minutes left.

"At half we had a talk and we all got pumped," Carabello said. "And then my team helped me get a couple of opportunities and then we were right back in it, 4-4. It slipped away at the end. But we all played hard and everyone wanted it. That was the first time I've ever scored four goals. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my team, they got me the ball, and believed in me."

Sonora freshman Missael Vazquez assisted on two goals and seniors Nathan Patterson and Eric Gilliatt each made one assist.

"Damien had a monster game," said Wildcat head coach Lloyd Longeway. "I don't remember the last time we had somebody score a hat trick, and to score four goals is quite an accomplishment."
