Madness in the Mother Lode All-Star hoops

Columbia College head coach Rob Hoyt and the Claim Jumpers men's basketball program hosted two high school all-star gameson Saturdayfor its annual Madness in the Mother Lode.

In the girls' game, the home team won 65-40 and the boys' home squad topped the away team 87-83.

"It went really well," Hoyt said. "The girls' game was a little lopsided, but it was huge turnout. The seats were full. There were more people for the girls' game than the boys' game. It was great."

Summerville Bear senior Aryk Freeman was a member of the boys' winning team, and Sonora Wildcat head coach Amy Santos coached the girls' away team.

The 65-40 spectacle marked the first ever girls' game played at Oak Pavilion.

"It was really fun," Hoyt said. "There's a lot of question marks going in, you just hope everybody shows up. You're communicating with a lot of people via email and phone. It's a lot of work, but having all the help that I had with the staff that helped run the event made it easy. They did all the work."
