The Columbia College Claim Jumpers men's basketball team missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw attempt late and the West Hills Falcons capitalized, scoring the other way to beat the Claim Jumpers 65-64on Wednesdayin Coalinga.

Up until that basket, Columbia held the lead for nearly the entire game until there was just 1.3 seconds left on the game clock.

"It was just a real heartbreaker," said Claim Jumper assistant coach Rick Francis. "That was the shot that put them ahead."

With a good first half shooting and a strong defensive effort, Columbia led 43-29 at halftime.

But in the final 20 minutes, the Falcons penetrated the Claim Jumpers zone defense.

"We did the same defense," Francis said. "They made some big shots. We played great defense the whole game. Tige (Wingo) played extremely hard. It just one of those games that didn't go our way."

Both Wingo and Rafe King scored 18 points. King also drained four shots from beyond the arch. Daniel Radford and Mike Williams each added seven points. Marcus Junior had six.

Falcon forward DeVonte Jenkins, who made the game-winning shot, finished with 14 points and Chris Minor tallied a team-best 15.

Up next for Columbia (10-13, 3-5 Central Valley Conference) is a home matchon Saturdayagainst Reedley College at6 p.m.
