Roundup: Claim Jumpers fall to COS

The Union Democrat Sports Department

The Columbia Claim Jumpers fell 3-0 (16-25, 21-25, 15-25) to Central Valley Conference opponent COSFridayin Visalia.

Lauren Lane, a Bret Harte graduate, blasted a team-high eight kills and former Summerville Bear Bella Bachtelle smashed four.

Setter Samantha Darrin, a Bear grad, recorded 12 assists. Lane added four blocks and Bryanna Carter and Bachtelle each had three. Brooke Earling had 16 digs and Jacklyn Lowery had eight.

Columbia (8-8, 2-5 CVC) will host TaftWednesdayat Oak Pavilion.

Redskin Hull medals at Bella Vista Invite

Calaveras Redskin cross country runner Hannah Hull earned a medalSaturdayat the Bella Vista Invitational hosted by Folsom High School.

The senior ran to an eighth-place finish at20:34on the 3.1-mile course. Denise Carlin was 117th (27:15), Mary Stewart 125th (28:06) and Madison Colborn 153rd (34:40).

Devin Scheidt led the varsity boys and came in at 42nd (18:16). Jesais Hall was 76th (18:56), Michael Stickels 91st (19:10), Jacob Williams 120th (19:55), Jason Deoliveria 141st (20:42), John Andresen 145th (20:45), Jared Teicheira 153rd (21:12) and Frankie West 184th (23:34). As a team, the Redskin boys placed 15th out of 23.

Olivia Borchin finished third to earn a medal at14:15in the frosh/soph girls race. Mykayla Leiser was 27th (16:14), Bryn Merrill 43rd (16:54), Savannah Rose 46th (17:03), Emma Leiser 48th (17:13), Makayla Ruthrauff 62nd (17:49) and Jynee Baroda 70th (21:12). The girls was fourth out of 11 teams with 135 points.

Krueztfeld 2nd at Bronco Invite

Sonora sophomore Thomas Krueztfeld finished in second place at the Bronco InvitationalSaturdayin Folsom.

Krueztfeld came in at12:11.22, just .03 second shy of first, in the 98-runner, 11-team meet.

In the 76-runner freshman boys race, Victor Battle was 46th at15:03.47.
