Claim Jumpers get back-to-back volley wins

The Columbia College volleyball team kicked off their season with back-to-back victories.

On Wednesday, head coach Jennifer Osterhout and the Claim Jumpers hosted their first home game against Cosumnes River College, winning 3-2 (23-25, 17-25, 25-11, 25-15, 16-14).

Samantha Darrin led the team with 19 assists and Allison Friel finished with seven.

Samantha Artiaga had a team-high 12 digs and Brooke Earling and Jakki Lowery both registered eight.

Kameryn Perkins finished 16/17 serving with three aces. Artiaga went 18/18 with an ace and Bryanna Carter came through with two aces on 11/13 serving.

Lauren Lane recorded five blocks and Miranda Storre had four.

Perkins had a team-best 11 kills, and Lane and Bella Bachtelle added 10 and seven, respectively.

The Claim Jumpers opened their 2013 campaign last Friday with a victory at San Jose City, 3-1 (25-15, 16-25, 25-10, 25-12).

The team will hit the road Friday for the Chabot Classic in Hayward.
