Wildcats beat Bears in Tuolumne

The Sonora Wildcats volleyball team defeated cross-county rival Summerville 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-20) on Wednesday night at Tuolumne."I gotta give Summerville credit, they've had maybe one day of practice," said Wildcat assistant coach Tina Cruz. "We've had two days, but we just came back from a highly competitive tournament in Reno this weekend. They played tough, but we were just too much tonight. It's always an exciting match. It's Summerville, it could always go either way. The girls were really excited and definitely excited for this season."

"It was a well played game on both sides," Bears head coach Greg Harford said. "Sonora played a better error-free game. They served quite well. They're offense was really well organized."

Summerville had just two practices before the Rim Fire cut short their preseason practice schedule.

"We were off about 10 days," Harford said.

The Bears boss said that playing against an upper-division team like Sonora can only help the Bears as it strives to get better.

"The level that Sonora is playing at is going to be our goal," he said. "I thought it was a great snapshot for Summerville to see how we stack up with the higher level teams and the areas that we have to improve on."
