Five Tuolumne County motocross racers compete in Mammoth

Five Tuolumne County amateur motocross riders, including a father-and-son duo competed in the Monster Mammoth Motocross this past weekend.
Dave Mozingo, 52, and his son Dylan, 18, of Sonora finished 35th and 33rd out of 74 racers, respectively, in the 1.5 mile main event course of the 2 Stroke Challenge at Mammoth Lakes.
The 10-day event was held from June 21-30.
In the 50-years-and-older class, the elder Mozingo finished seventh to take home a trophy.
The Mozingos will gear up later this month to race in the 2013 Amateur Washougal Nationals in Washington.
Other riders who participated in motocross events were Sonora residents James Gipson,15, and 17-year-old Cooper Lehnert. Both competed in the 450c Division. Lenhert finished 26th in the main event finale with a2:29.215on Sunday. Both also raced in the 250c Division.
Cal Johnson, 18, of Columbia, raced in the 250cc Division finals.On Saturday, Johnson came in 14th place out of 34 motocrossers during the seven-lap event with a time of2:29.435. Johnson finished 16thSundayin the 250b/c finale.
