Tioga softball wraps up solid year in playoffs

The Union Democrat Sports Department

The Tioga Timberwolves fell to No. 1 seed Valley Christian of the Sacramento Metro League 13-0 in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII Softball Championships in Lodi.

Tioga's Jarlin Martinez had her team's only hit of the game and was solid at backstop, according to Timberwolves head coach Dawnelle Dutton.

"The girls put up a good fight," Dutton said. "They all hit the ball but Valley Christian fielded exceptionally well and allowed hardly any on base.

"We made some errors that cost us, otherwise the score wouldn't have been as high. I'm proud of these girls for making it this far!"
