Alex Milward is a master again.

The Bret Harte Bullfrog senior shot a 6-over-par 78 at the Division V Golf Tournament Monday at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club to advance to the prestigious Masters tournament next week for the second straight season.

"It's a great accomplishment for Alex to qualify two years in-a-row," said Bret Harte head coach Rich Cathcart.

Milward came into the event as the defending champion and finished six shots off the pace set by Landon Azevedo of Hilmar.

Ripon and Hilmar staged an exciting battle for the Sac-Joaquin Section title with Ripon prevailing by one shot (430-431).

Ripon advanced to the Masters which will be held at The Reserve at Spanos Park Golf Course in Stockton on May 13.

The Bullfrogs finished in third place (455) followed by Dixon (471), Escalon (484), Calaveras (485) and Marysville (508).

Also for the Bullfrogs, who finished their season as the 6-time Mother Lode League champions and have won 97 consecutive head-to-head league matches, Rodney Riner shot an 87, Colin Casey a 94 and Jayden Saville and Scott Hatfield each carded 98s.

Sean Fitzsimmons led the Redskins with an 88, Alec Brotherton shot a 90, Garrett Williams and Austin Williams each shot 100s and Jake Grant a 107.

The Summerville Bears had a two-man team, Jesse Roberson and Charlie McClung, who qualified as individuals. Roberson finished in 18th out of 56 with an 89 and McClung was 29th with a 94.
