Bullfrog netters top Bears 9-0

The Bret Harte Bullfrogs tennis team defeated the Summerville Bears Tuesday 9-0 at Tuolumne to open play in the Mother Lode League.

"With exactly half the team never playing a varsity match before, our sweep made for an exciting first conference match of the season," said Bret Harte head coach Angella Woods. "Both the No. 2 boys' and girls' doubles teams got off to a difficult start but battled back to win the second sets and finally the third set tiebreakers.And Haley Kovacs, our freshman No. 1 girls singles player also battled back after losing her first set, to win her very first varsity match."

Earning wins for Bret Harte were No. 1 boys singles player Jack Gilbert; No. 2 boys single Sean Gorman; No. 2 girls single Ruby Kaur; both girls doubles teams of Lindesy McTague and Abby Medina and Carla Rodriguez and Jasmin Gomez; the boys two doubles teams of Lucas Chaguaceda and Matt Fideldy and Carlos Rivera and Joe Dougherty and the mixed doubles team of Austin Evans and Kayla Houle.
