Kester named Most Outstanding, Dwyer is league’s top coach

Summerville junior Breann Robinson was recently-voted the

Most Valuable Player of the Mother Lode League by the league's coaches.

The super-setter Robinson helped lead the Bears to their third MLL

volleyball title in the last four years. Summerville finished league

with a 14-1 record and earned a No. 5 seed for the Division IV playoffs.

Also earning top honors in the MLL were Bret Harte Bullfrog senior

Kylie Kester, who was named Most Outstanding Player and Summerville boss

Kristy Dwyer, who was named Coach of the Year for the third time in the

last four years.

Also recognized for Summerville were seniors Courtney Robinson and

Bella Bachtelle who were named to the First Team. Robinson was an

outside hitter and Bachtelle was a middle blocker.

The Calaveras Redskins, who defeated rival Bret Harte on the last day

of the regular season for the final playoff berth, had senior Madison

Hull and junior Samantha Baseman voted to the First Team. Hull was a

middle blocker and Baseman was an outside hitter.

Aside from the dynamic Kester, Bullfrog setter Brittany Schulte was voted to the First Team.

Earning Second Team recognition were: Caitie Egger (junior,

Summerville), Taylor Leslie (senior, Summerville), Dakota Butzler

(sophomore, Calaveras) and Erika Rasmussen (senior, Bret Harte).

Earning character awards were Summerville's Nikki Christie, Calaveras' Courtney Tarbat and Bret Harte's Jessica Rapetti.
