The Bret Harte Bullfrogs volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss on Tuesday night against Argonaut in Angels Camp.

The Bullfrogs won the first game 27-25, but fell in the last three 2-17, 25-22, 25-15.

Bret Harte now must win its final two games to have a shot at playing in postseason.

Three teams qualify from the Mother Lode League and the Bullfrogs (6-7 MLL) are in fourth, one game behind arch-rival Calaveras (7-6). Those teams will meet on Oct. 30 in San Andreas in the final regular season contest. If two teams tie for the final playoff spot, there will be a one-match playoff.

"We have to play better in the next two games than we did tonight," said Bullfrog head coach Rich Juarez. "Tonight we served really well and put up some nice blocks. There were some rallies that lasted at least a minute and there would be seven or eight digs on that one point alone."

Kylie Kester led the Bullfrog effort and served 16 for 16 with an ace, she blasted 22 kills on 74 for 79 hitting and made 20 digs.

Also for Bret Harte, Erika Rasmussen made five blocks and smacked nine kills, Jessica Rapetti had 33 digs and went 40 for 46 on serve receive, Brittany Schulte set 101 for 101 with 25 assists and also made 23 digs, Kelsey Switzer made 20 digs and Krista Maisch made three blocks.

The Bullfrogs next will play at Linden on Thursday at 6 p.m.
